Very rare, very early offset lithograph from the original by Edward Lear
A beautiful print, of unusually high quality. It is difficult to see the difference between this and the original hand coloured litho without a high quality printers glass. This is the only print we can find to have been reproduced at the same size as the original so unclear when this was published. The paper shows signs of age, we would guess early twentieth century at the latest.
The print has been slightly clipped, none of the illustration is missing but around 2cm all round of the original paper is gone. Condition is generally excellent, with some browning to the paper but no stains or discolouration that we can see. It was found in a beautiful antique heavy brass/bronze frame which we have cleaned but refrained from heavy polishing. It is tarnished in places, this can be removed with an abrasive polish but we wanted to maintain the lovely feel it currently has.
Size inclusive of frame is 35cm x 54cm
