This is a beautiful example of Victorian taxidermy, the subjects being a very rare pair of Indian Roller Birds.
This highly unusual pair of exotic birds are spectacularly coloured with intense turquoise and deep purple feathers with a soft taupe to the back, offset against a naturalistic backdrop of real flora and faux rock.
These are large and impressive decorative display pieces, being 53cm tall and 23cm wide in their original glass domes on lightwood ebonised bases.
One bird has lost it's tail feathers, and both show some signs of age. Please see images for detail, we can supply more on request. Roller bird feathers are occasionally available to buy so it may well be possible to completely restore.
Due to the delicate nature of these, we can only ship within the UK.
